New Delhi, 28 June (IANS). It is natural to reduce physical mobility and balance with increasing age. But, this does not mean that distance has to be made from yoga. In such a situation, the chair yoga done in a simple way for the elderly is not less than a gift.

Kursi Yoga is proving to be a boon for the elderly. Yoga gives stability to people troubled by the problem of aging by resorting to the chair, which can make traditional yoga asanas easily and safely.

Asana, breathing technique (pranayama) and meditation are practiced by sitting in a chair or by resorting to it. This is ideal for those who are unable to sit on the floor, feel difficulty in maintaining balance or who are struggling with joint pain and muscle weakness. This yoga can be easily done easily in the house as well as the park or elsewhere, which does not require anything special, except a stable chair.

Its regular practice has seen many benefits in physical and mental health. It reduces joint tightness, strengthens muscles and increases flexibility. Through breathing techniques it helps in reducing stress and anxiety, which brings mental peace. The chair yoga is also effective to remove heart related problems, control it, control blood pressure and improve sleep quality. Elders can exercise in a comfortable way without any risk.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Kursi Yoga can be started with simple rugs such as shoulders and neck stretching, sitting on the chair with the speed or support of the feet.

According to the expert, it is better to start it under the supervision of a trained yoga teacher. Experts say that 2-3 times a week, 20-30 minutes of practice can also give adequate benefits.

Sitting yoga is not only the elderly, but for all those who want to make yoga a part of their lives. It is a simple, accessible and effective step in the direction of health and prosperity.

It is very important to pay attention to some common things before the chair yoga practice. For this, choose a strong chair without wheels. For this, choose a strong seat chair, which is not too padded. The back of the chair should be straight and its height should be such that the feet can keep flat on the ground.
