Kolkata news: A case of gang rape has come to light with a 24 -year -old student at Law College, South Kolkata. Police said that an alumni and two senior students were involved in the incident. Medical examination has found clear evidence of force and assault with the student. Her body has been found with teeth bite and nail scratching marks.
Attack on refusing to marry
According to the police, the incident took place on the evening of June 25 in the guard’s room near the student union office in the college campus. It is being told that the main accused had proposed marriage to the student, which the student turned down. After this, the accused forcefully took him to the room and raped her. During this time, two other accused were guarding outside.
Three hours of cruelty
The victim told the police that the incident lasted from around 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. The accused not only raped her, but also made a video of her and threatened to make her viral. At the same time, the student was threatened with the consequences for telling someone something.
All three accused arrested
The police have arrested the three accused. All have been sent to police custody for four days. The forensic team has sealed the scene and the mobile phones of the accused have been confiscated. Police is also investigating whether the video was sent elsewhere or not.
Political connection of the main accused
It is being told that the main accused is an alumni of the college, who has also been a temporary employee in the college for some time. His social media profile has written that he is the former president of the Trinamool Congress Students’ Council (TMCP) and an officer of the South Kolkata branch. Some pictures of him have also come out on social media, in which he is seen with the leaders of the ruling party. However, the Trinamool Congress has denied any relationship with the accused and demanded strict action.
Case registered for gang rape on all accused
Chief Public Prosecutor Sorin Ghoshal said that according to the Supreme Court, in such cases, not only those who raped, but all the people who helped are also considered accused. Therefore, a case of gang rape has been registered against the three.
