On the 100th birth anniversary of Acharya Vidyanand Ji Maharaj, the great saint of Jainism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the title of ‘Dharm Chakraborty’. The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Lord Mahavir Ahimsa Bharti Trust, Delhi. This was the beginning of a year -long national tribute ceremony, remembering the contribution of Acharya Vidyanand. In this ceremony, PM Modi appreciated the works of Acharya and said that his teachings take the society towards unity and peace. The Jain community and others across the country called this honor historic.

Acharya Vidyanand Ji Maharaj was born on 22 April 1925 in Shedbal in Belagavi, Karnataka. He was the great Jain scholar of the modern era, who remembered more than 8,000 Jain Agam verses and wrote more than 50 texts such as Jain philosophy, Amailism and Mokshamarg Darshan. Their teachings promote non -violence, morality and Jain philosophy.
