Congress targeted BJP over plans to ‘re -determin’ the boundary of Sariska Sanctuary

Congress targeted BJP over plans to 're -determin' the boundary of Sariska Sanctuary

The Congress targeted the Center and the Rajasthan government on Sunday, stating the alleged plan to resume the boundaries of the Sariska Tiger Sanctuary to resume more than 50 mining activities, saying the move would be “ecological” ecological “.

The opposition party Congress also said that the Union Environment Minister is from Alwar and the environment minister of Rajasthan also comes from there, so this ‘double engine’ government cannot support such a step.

Congress General Secretary (Communications in -charge) Jairam Ramesh shared a media report on ‘X’, claiming that the plan to resume the boundaries of Sariska Tiger Sanctuary of Rajasthan is reaching close to approval. He said that this would clear the way to resume more than 50 mining activities, which was first ordered to be closed by the Supreme Court.

There was no immediate response from the Center or the Government of Rajasthan to these claims.

Ramesh said that Sariska tiger sanctuary near Alwar is an excellent example of revival.

He wrote, “The number of tigers in Sariska had increased to zero by December 2004 due to high-active poaching network. This caused a stir across the country, due to which the ‘Tiger Task Force’ was formed in April 2005, after which Dr. Manmohan Singh held an important meeting with the Chief Wildlife Officers of various states at the Ranthambore Tiger Sanctuary in May 2005.

He said that as a result of this, the National Tiger Protection Authority (NTCA) and ‘Wildlife Crime Control Bureau’ came into existence in December 2005.

Ramesh said that after this, the process of recurring tigers was started in Panna Tiger Sanctuary as well as Sariska -although in the beginning some experts also expressed doubts about it, but today the number of tigers in Sariska has reached 48, which is a historical achievement in itself.

The Congress General Secretary said, “Now preparations are being made to change the boundary of the sanctuary. With this, 50 mining companies of this region, which were closed earlier, can start mining again.

He said that complete participation of local communities is necessary in the sustainable management of tiger sanctuaries and there is no need to say this.

Ramesh said, “50 mines (marble, dolomite, limestone and mesonic stone) and other mines will be rebuilt again, which will be in danger again.”

He claimed that this would split into pieces instead of tigers. To compensate for this, the “buffer zone” which is being talked about adding new areas may look right on paper, but in reality it will be disastrous for tiger ecology, especially when the tiger population is already limited.

The Congress General Secretary said, “Union Environment Minister Alwar is from Alwar and Rajasthan’s Environment Minister also comes from there. Is this ‘double engine’ really supporting this disintegration of the tiger corridor to benefit the government mining owners? ”

Ramesh said that eventually the Supreme Court will have to intervene in the case as its instructions are being violated.
