Haldwani. In Kumaon division of Uttarakhand, life has been disturbed due to intermittent rains for the last 24 hours. In many places, there is a problem of landslide. Due to this, movement on 54 roads of Mandal has stopped. The district administration is preparing to open roads and start operations on them.
There has been an incident of landslide in places due to intermittent rains for the last several hours. River-drains are in spate. Due to landslides and debris from rivers, 54 roads are closed in different districts of Kumaon division, which district administration and PWD are constantly making efforts to open.
The most damage has been in Bageshwar district, where 26 roads are closed due to debris. According to data received from the Kumaon Commissioner’s office, Bageshwar district has the highest number of 26 roads closed. Apart from this, 13 roads are closed in Pithoragarh district, eight in Champawat district, four in Almora district and three in Nainital district. According to the data received by the administration, most of the roads are on district and rural routes.
Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat told reporters, “According to the alert issued by the Meteorological Department, it is raining in many parts of the Kumaon division. In view of this, the district administration and police administration have been kept on alert. Apart from this, efforts are being made to open wherever the road is closed on the mountains.”
He said, “The district administration is eyeing the disaster and heavy rains. From where there is news of more damage from the rain, I am monitoring it.
