Lord Vishnu lives in yoga sleep from Devshayani Ekadashi to Kartik Ekadashi in a year, it is called ‘Chaturmas’. This period starts from Ashada Shukla Ekadashi and ends on Kartik Shukla Ekadashi. This time Chaturmas will be from 06 July to 01 November.
All responsibility comes on Lord Shiva
The meaning of Lord Vishnu’s stay in the yoga sleep is that during this time the responsibility of operating the creation comes on the family of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva, the families of Lord Shiva, Mother Parvati, Ganesh Bhagwan and Kartikeya are particularly active in this period and protect the creation from all kinds of negative forces.
Who runs the universe?
Lord Vishnu lives in 4 months Sawan, Bhadrapada, Ashwin and Kartik Yoga Nidra. When Lord Vishnu lives in Yoga Nidra, the creation is conducted by the family of Lord Shiva.
1. Lord Shiva: As the destroyer of the universe, Shiva is particularly active during this period. They destroy negative powers and maintain balance. The month of Sawan remains dedicated to Lord Shiva, so Lord Shiva runs the month of Sawan.
2. The month of Bhadrapada remains dedicated to Lord Ganesha, this month Lord Ganesha operates, worshiping Lord Ganesha in this month gives the desired fruit.
3. Ma Parvati: Maa Durga, the third month of Chaturmas i.e. Ashwin, is particularly active as Maa Parvati, and protects the devotees. She communicates energy and power in the absence of Lord Vishnu. Festivals like Navratri are celebrated in this month.
4. Fourth of Chaturmas: The month of Kartik is dedicated to Lord Kartikeya, so the four months of Chaturmas, the family of Lord Shankar operates the entire creation.
