Chandigarh Former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda has said that the state government itself is giving illegal mining and patronage to the mafia. Examples of this are being seen from Chhacharauli to Palwal. In Chhachrauli, a dumper filled with illegal mining was caught by the police first. He was installed police station. But after a while the dumper was taken somewhere and was evacuated and the empty dumper was brought back to the police station. It is clear that it is printed by newspapers, it is an example of not taking action against illegal mining and looking at the complicity. The process of illegal mining in Yamuna looks the same from Yamunanagar to Palwal. Everywhere the mining mafia is uninterrupted and is carrying out illegal excavation. Even in Palwal, many temporary bridges were built on Yamuna to illegally remove sand.
Hooda said that it was obvious that neither official nor environmental approval was taken for these illegal bridges. The nearby villagers complained to everyone from the local MLA to the minister. But there is no action on the mining mafia. Because the government itself is engaged in giving protection to such people. Hooda said that due to illegal mining, not only the revenue of the state is being lost of thousands of crores. Rather it is also causing floods in the state.
This illegal mining was the major reason for the 2023 floods. Because the mining mafia took out the stream of flow of the river, removing the sand and when water came from behind in the river, it entered the residential areas. At that time, the Congress had raised his voice from the road to the assembly from mining to the government’s negligence. I myself visited flood affected areas. At that time, the government had assured several steps to stop floods in future. But no such action was taken by the government.
The monsoon has knocked in the state. But the embankments of rivers have not yet been strengthened in many places. No arrangements were made to prevent floods in the Markanda affected village. The work of constructing a wall on the edges did not start by digging in the Tangri river. The embankment work could not be started in Hema Majra of Kurukshetra. Whereas due to lack of all this work, there was a flood in 2023 and due to the government’s negativeness, this time there can be a danger of floods in the state.
