The Maharashtra Police has arrested a 34 -year -old man who was absconding for 13 years after killing a person in Thane district. A dedicated team of Meera-Bhayander Vasai-Virar (MBVV) Police arrested Govind Kumar Jagatnarayan Chaudhary, accused in the 2012 murder case from the new market in New Delhi.
Decade -old murder in Bhayandar
The case is dated to May 28, 2012, when Govind Kumar allegedly killed 35 -year -old Sureshkumar Suryanarayan Chaudhary, who was a resident of Bhayandar. Senior Police Inspector Pramod Badkh, while disclosing the dreaded details of the crime, said that Govind Kumar allegedly strangled Sureshkumar, closed his mouth with tape and then attacked him several times with pestle.
Unveiled cruelty: a fierce attack
The attacker did not stop here. Inspector Budakh further said that Govind Kumar then used a knife and other sharp weapons and made several attacks on Sureshkumar’s face, chest, stomach and hands. The cruelty of the attack shocked the investigators at that time. After this heinous act, the accused escaped and avoided arrests for more than a decade.

The search to catch Govind Kumar was a long and difficult process. Police officials said that several fronts were worked on to track the accused. “Our team worked on several fronts including technical analysis and important intelligence information,” a police officer said. “Which eventually helped us identify the accused as Govind Kumar Jagatnarayan Chaudhary.” This diligent work and the use of state -of -the -art forensic equipment, which enabled the police to locate the accused even after such a long period.
Arrest in New Delhi
After avoiding law for many years, Govind Kumar’s whereabouts were eventually found in Delhi.
