The condition of Himachal Pradesh is disturbed. The rain has caused heavy havoc in many parts of the state. At least 10 people have died and 34 people are missing due to cloudburst and sudden floods in the state’s Mandi district. This information was given by the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC).
According to the official data of SEOC’s monsoon status report released at 8 am on July 2, there were 16 incidents of cloudburst and three accidental floods in the state, most of which were concentrated in the market, causing widespread devastation.
According to SEOC data, the mandi has become the “center” of the monsoon disaster.
The SEOC said in its statement, “In many areas of Thunag, Karsog and Gohar subdivisions, there was a large -scale property damage, people went missing and died. Two houses were swept away in Sianz (Gohar), causing nine people missing, out of which the bodies of two were recovered.”
A cloudburst in Kutti bypass (Karsog) confirmed the death of two people and two are missing, while seven others have been safely evacuated. The report stated that a major discovery and rescue operations continue with teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) in the affected areas of Karsog, Gohar and Thunag.
Many families were trapped near the Vyas river due to sudden floods in Balha village (Hamirpur). SEOC said, “Police teams rescued a total of 51 people, including 30 laborers and 21 locals.”
Relief tasks are in full swing, emergency shelters have been built and necessary supplys such as tents, blankets and food are being distributed. In Triyambala (Serthi) village of Dharampur, 17 families were assisted after losing livestock and property due to cloudburst.
SEOC confirmed, “Search and rescue operations are going on in the mandi and both NDRF and SDRF teams are actively engaged in it.”
The central government is monitoring rainfall and river levels, especially on sensitive areas such as Jehani Khad, which is currently flowing above the danger mark.
With high rainfall forecasting, residents in high -risk areas are advised to be vigilant and follow the withdrawal instructions issued by local authorities.
