Such cases have increased considerably in the last few years. Many people are connecting these incidents on social media with side-effects of Covid vaccine. However, whatever the reason, the government is taking these claims seriously. The government has said that there is no relation between sudden heart attack and Kovid-19 vaccine. In support of this, the government has also cited two scientific studies.
What did the government say?
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) have studied the sudden growing heart attack and their relationship with Covid-19 vaccine. The government has shared the report of these two institutions in its official statement.
ICMR has done research on the subject ‘due to sudden deaths in adults from 18 to 45 years’. A research is also going on in AIIMS Delhi on this subject. The government says that although these research has not been completely abolished, initial conclusions indicate that there is no connection between the sudden deaths in the youth and the covid vaccine.
What came out in studies?
Studies have found that the Kovid vaccine had no hand among the people who died suddenly. These deaths have been mostly seen in those who had earlier been hospitalized due to covid infection.
Since the effects of Kovid remain in the body for a long time, the effect of infection can last long. But those who have taken the vaccine are safe. The vaccine not only reduces the long effect of the covid but also prevents the infection spreading. Therefore, people who are dying are not due to vaccine. In fact, for those who have taken the vaccine, it acts like a defense shield.
Then why are deaths happening?
According to ICMR report, family history is also an important reason behind sudden deaths. People who already have heart disease in their families increase the chances of heart attack by three times.
Apart from this, lifestyle factors also play an important role. Those who consume excessive alcohol and cigarettes double the possibility of such deaths, compared to those who do not consume them.
Time is also an important factor. Drinking excessive alcohol or excessive physical activity in the last 48 hours has seen a particular cause of sudden deaths.
Also, people who were earlier hospitalized due to Kovid infection were also found to be more likely to suddenly. However, the study also suggests that the vaccination reduces the serious effects of the covid to a great extent.
How did ICMR study?
To reach the conclusion, whether sudden deaths from Covid vaccine, ICMR studied many such cases in depth. For this, data was collected from 47 Territory Care Hospitals of 19 states and union territories.
Territory Care Hospital is a hospital where serious diseases are treated.
ICMR analyzed the causes of around 700 casual deaths between October 2021 to March 2023, and found that they were not related to the vaccine.
