Love … a word that is associated with emotions, relationships and depths of soul. But have you ever wondered whether unconditional love is really possible? Can anyone love anyone without any expectations, without any selfishness and without any reason? This question has complicated philosophers, saints and thinkers for centuries. But when the answer to this question comes from a mystic and self -individual person like Osho, his form becomes even deeper and clear.
Osho’s attitude on love: love, but unconditional
Osho says, “True love is one in which there is no expectation, there are no conditions. He only knows giving love, not getting it.” According to him, when love is for a purpose, expectation of an answer or any profit, it becomes a business-a transaction. And when a love transaction becomes, it becomes hollow, it does not save spiritual heat in it, which makes love divine.
Unconditional love vs social love
The society has made love a contract – “I will love you if you live up to my expectations”, “I will do something for you, if you will do it for me”. This is not a love, but a deal. According to Osho, unconditional love is born when a person is fulfilled when he does not want anything from anyone else, just to share. True love is possible only when you have come to know yourself, when you have realized the peace, silence and joy within yourself. The love of such a person is neither on the banks of the river, nor the shadow of the clouds – it is a flowing energy, which does not try to change anyone, but accepts it with his complete freedom.
Osho’s learning: freedom and acceptance in love
Osho repeatedly emphasizes that the most important thing in love is-freedom. He says, “If you love someone, free him. Do not obstruct his flight.” In today’s relationships, often we call love, there is a sense of authority in it. We want to mold the front person according to us, want to dominate it. But this is not love, but control. Without the condition love you do not try to change anyone, but accept it with his shortcomings as he is. Osho calls it “Acceptance in Totality”. This is the root of love – complete acceptance.
Is this possible?
Now the question arises whether all these are only things of books and discourses or is such a love possible? Osho himself says, “Very difficult, but not impossible.” This love is possible only when a person fills his inner emptiness through meditation and self-thinking. When he knows the art of being alone and still remains happy, then he becomes loved without any expectation.
