Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tribute to Swami Vivekananda, a monk and spiritual leader who campaigned in the world, on his 123rd death anniversary.
PM Modi wrote on X, “I salute Swami Vivekananda on his death anniversary. His thoughts and attitudes for our society are our guide lights. He insisted a sense of pride and confidence in our history and cultural heritage. He also emphasized on walking on the path of service and compassion.”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also paid tribute to Swami Vivekananda on the death anniversary and credited him for the establishment of Sanatan Dharma on the world stage through Vedanta’s concept.
Adityanath wrote in Hindi on X, “The bigger challenge, the bigger the victory will be.”
He said, “The pride of civilization, culture and self -respect, ‘Proudly we are Hindus’, a humble tribute to the young monk ‘Rashtra Rishi’ Swami Vivekananda on his death anniversary!”
Adityanath said that Vivekananda made Vedanta and Sanatan culture popular through his service and confidence globally.
The Chief Minister said, “Your attitude towards nation building and ‘wake up’ will continue to guide the young India for ages.”
The great spiritual leader, philosopher and thinker Swami Vivekananda, who was known as Narendranath Dutt before his monk life, was born on 12 January 1863 in Kolkata and died on 4 July 1902.
The monk gained fame in the World Religion Parliament held in Chicago in 1893, when he inspired Western intellectuals to recognize the religious tradition of India.
