Mumal was a princess of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, who was far and wide for her extraordinary beauty, intelligence and mysterious personality. His palace was in ‘Lodrava’, which is still known as a historical site. Mumal and his sisters used to test the brave men coming to their palace. Mahendra – Prince of Amarkot
Mahendra was the prince of Amarkot of Sindh (now in Pakistan). He was brave, smart and courageous, but also a soft heart lover. When Mahendra came to know about the beauty and cleverness of Mumal, he reached Lodrava to see her and participate in her examination. At first he also faced many difficulties and challenges, but finally he was successful in Mumal’s intelligence examination.
First gift and beginning of love
The first meeting of Mumal and Mahendra became a wonderful attraction between them. Mumal gave him his heart by recognizing Mahendra’s valor and a sense of true love. Mumal also became an ideal girlfriend, not just a beautiful princess for Mahendra. Their love deepened day by day and both resolved to live life with each other.
Distance, pain and misunderstanding
But the path of true love is never easy. The distance between Amarkot and Lodrava, due to family and political differences, started increasing the distance between Mahendra and Mumal. One day, when Mahendra came to meet Mumal, he saw a man coming out of Mumal’s room in the palace. The person was actually Mumal’s sister, who was in joking in men’s costumes. But Mahendra felt that Mumal had cheated him.
Breaking faith and end of love
Mahendra went away without saying anything to Mumal due to misunderstanding. Mumal repeatedly clarified, sent love letters, sent to messengers, but Mahendra’s heart was injured. He was immersed in anger and anguish. When Mumal was convinced that Mahendra never returned, he ended his life. When Mahendra received the news of Mumal’s death, he regretted his actions. He also gave up his life in love at the same place, and this story became a symbol of immortal love for ages.
