Sacramento, 8 July (IANS). According to a new report, today American children have become more thicker than before, they are suffering more diseases and the possibility of dying of serious diseases for them is also more than that of the earlier generation. This report is the biggest study on children’s health in the last about 20 years.
The study was released on Monday in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). In this, more than 170 health related aspects were analyzed with the help of eight different national data sets since 2002.
“Every figure shows that children’s health is continuously deteriorating,” says Christopher Forest, lead writer at Children Hospital, Philadelphia, the lead author of this study.
Researchers found that obesity among children aged 2 to 19 years was 17 percent in 2007-08, which increased to 21 percent in 2021-23.
Electronic medical records covering over 1 million young patients showed that in 2011 40 percent of children were identified with some long -term (long -lasting) disease. It increased to 46 percent in 2023. These include anxiety, depression and sleep problems.
The mortality figures are even more opposite with other rich countries. The death rate of children in the US is 1.8 times higher than other rich countries (eg Canada, Germany, Japan). Premature birth and sudden unexpected baby death statistics for infants increased the most. At the same time, hurt and road accidents became the main reason for older children.
Symptoms such as depression, loneliness, sleeplessness, and lack of physical activities also appear to increase in children. Children feel the troubles of the society first and the most deeply.
Pediatricians Frederick Riwara and Avital Nathansan said that necessary steps have to be taken to keep children safe. He warned that the situation can worsen the situation by delaying public health budget, delay in fixing infrastructure, or promoting anti -vaccination spirit.
Not a reason for this decline, but many reasons are responsible, such as eating too much processed (canned). Lack of good treatment. Unsecured atmosphere and rising economic inequality for children.
Forest suggested that the health of children should be seen as a collective responsibility by making separate plans at the community level. Although the US spends the most on health, it is necessary to invest not only in hospitals, but also in schools, homes, transport and social services to improve this situation.
