Odisha: Police alerted devotees coming to Puri for the 'Sun Bhesh Bhesh' ritual of Lord Jagannath

The Odisha police on Sunday alerted people on the occasion of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra on the occasion of ‘Suna Bhesh’ (Golden dress) over a huge crowd of devotees in Puri.

The police informed the devotees about mob management and traffic control measures and asked them to plan their journey in Puri accordingly.

Odisha Police said in a post on ‘X’, “Suna Bhesh Yatra Alert, at seven in the morning. Due to the large number of devotees reaching Puri overnight for the darshan of Mahaprabhu, the parking lots in the city are almost completely filled. Vehicles are being directed towards Talabania and Sterling on the basis of availability of parking sites. Batagaon/Malatipatpur may have long been.

Police said that devotees are requested to “keep this information in mind and plan accordingly”.

In this regard, a senior official said that devotees kept coming and going in Puri on Saturday night as God was riding on the chariots and could be seen.

An official of the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) said, “There was no ‘reach’ (rest time) for the gods on Saturday night and the devotees had the opportunity to see them on the chariots. Therefore, there was a huge crowd.”

The servants performed all the rituals on Sunday morning while Lord Balabhadra, Goddess Subhadra and Lord Jagannath sat on their chariots.

After the completion of the nine -day annual stay of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, the three chariots ‘Taldhwaj’, ‘Darpadalan’ and ‘Nandighosh’ are standing in front of the ‘Singh Gate’ of the 12th century temple.

A temple management official said that the ‘Bahuda’ yatra was completed smoothly on Saturday amidst tight security and active cooperation of servants and the administration is fully prepared to control the crowd for ‘Suna Bhejha’ rituals.

The Chief Administrator of the temple administration, Aurobind Padhi, has appealed to all the stakeholders to actively cooperate for the smooth operation of Lord Jagannath’s ‘Suna Bhesh’ rituals.

According to the program of the temple administration, devotees can watch the rituals of the gods from 6.30 pm to 11 pm on Sunday.
