Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday alleged that “rigged” was done to benefit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Center wants to do the same in the Bihar elections to be held later this year.
Rahul Gandhi, while addressing the workers of the ‘India’ (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) coalition during the protest march against the special intensive revision of the voter list in Bihar, said to the workers of the ‘India’ (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) coalition, saying, “The Maharashtra assembly elections were rigged to benefit the BJP and the NDA in the Maharashtra assembly elections. They also want to repeat it in Bihar which we will not allow to happen. ”
He said, “The Election Commission should protect the constitution … It is working on the BJP’s instructions. These election commissioners have been nominated by the BJP. Special intensive revision of the voter list is an attempt to electoral theft. We will not let the Election Commission take away the rights of voters, especially the youth () the rights of the youth.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha reached the state capital in the morning. He was accompanied by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary D Raja and senior leaders of other opposition parties. During the protest march, which started from Income Tax Golambar in Patna, Gandhi along with other leaders rode on a vehicle. Rail and road traffic in many parts of the state was disrupted on Wednesday after the workers of opposition parties took to the streets of the statewide bandh called by the Grand Alliance in protest against the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list before the assembly elections in Bihar. Leaders of opposition parties disrupted road traffic by burning tires on Mahatma Gandhi Setu in Patna.
