Pithoragarh. The first batch of 45 pilgrims going on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra entered the Chinese -owned Tibet from Lipulekh Pass, located at an altitude of 17,500 feet on Thursday. Sources of the journey’s nodal agency Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam said that devotees crossed the Lipulekh Pass at quarter to nine in the morning and entered Tibet. Dhan Singh Bisht, in -charge of the corporation’s Dharchula base camp, said, “All the members of the party were very happy while going to Tibet.”
Before going to Tibet, devotees reached Nabhidhang located at an altitude of 4104 feet from Gunji on Tuesday. The next day he stayed there so that he could get time to adapt himself to the environment. During his stay in Tibet, devotees will stay at places called Taklakot, Darchen, Dera Fuk, Jungaghui Poo and Kugu and will visit the holy Kailash mountain and Mansarovar Lake. The batch will return to the Indian territory on July 18 through Lipulekh Pass and will rest in the Bundi camp that day.
Meanwhile, the second batch of 48 devotees left for Gunji from the Dharchula base camp. The second batch includes 14 female devotees, including 34 men and former MP Meenakshi Lekhi. This year, about 250 devotees in five batches will go on a trip to Kailash Manarovar through Lipulekh Pass.
