New Delhi. Amid the demand to change the Chief Minister in the Congress government of Karnataka, CM Siddaramaiah has said that there is no vacancy for the post of Chief Minister in Karnataka. Responding to the question of journalists, Siddaramaiah said, I am the Chief Minister of Karnataka and I am in front of you. Referring to the state deputy CM DK Shivkumar, the CM said that Shivkumar had said the same and I am saying the same. CM Siddaramaiah’s statement comes at a time when he and Deputy CM DK Shivkumar are to meet with the Congress high command today.

Even before this, Siddaramaiah had said in clear terms that I will be the CM of Karnataka for a full five years, no one should be doubted. Let us tell you that some MLAs of the ruling party in Karnataka have been demanding for the last several days that Siddaramaiah should be removed and the command of the state should be handed over to Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar. Two days ago, MLA CP Yogeshwar had said that most of the Congress MLAs want Siddaramaiah to be replaced by DK Shivkumar as Chief Minister. Earlier, Congress MLA Iqbal Hussain claimed that he has the support of more than 100 party MLAs who want Shivkumar to be placed as Chief Minister.
Karnataka government minister KN Rajanna also said that after September, there can be a big change in the politics of Karnataka. Seeing the entire controversy growing, Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge had asked the party leaders to avoid unnecessary rhetoric and sent senior Congress leader Randeep Surjewala to Karnataka for the intervention of the case. Surjewala held a press conference after meeting DK Shivkumar and Siddaramaiah in which he had made Shivkumar sit with him and announced that the CM would not be changed in the state.
