IIT will open in Delhi for innovation in medical imaging, state -of -the -art MRI Research Lab

New Delhi . Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has launched a state -of -the -art magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) Research Lab to promote new research in the field of medical imaging. The facility, established under the Institute of Eminence Initiative, is equipped with 1.5 Tesla Clinical-Grade MRI scanner.
This facility is the first initiative in India’s major engineering and technology institutes. Its primary objective will be to make new scientific discoveries and train students in the field of medical imaging.
It is specially designed to promote innovation in the field of MRI.
This state -of -the -art MRI facility will help to excel in various fields of MR imaging and image processing.
Director of IIT Delhi Prof. Rangan Banerjee said, “This new research will enable research and innovation in MRI facility imaging. It will also help the efforts of IIT Delhi to gather new information from the combination of science, engineering and medicine, which will bring a big change in health services.”
The lab is located in the Center for Biomedical Engineering (CBME) in IIT Delhi. Initially, research will be done on dummy and then after getting necessary government approval, clinical study will also be done on volunteers.
It will also serve as a practical training forum for students enrolled in medical imaging courses in IIT Delhi, increasing their practical knowledge about advanced imaging techniques.
Prof. of CBME Anoop Singh and Prof. Amit Mendiratta has previously led it, according to him, the dream of establishing it was seen five years ago. This will give a new dimension to the teaching and learning of medical imaging at the University of Facility.
It started on 9 July and the first MRI security session was organized by B-MEC Imaging Private Limited, which established an MRI scanner.
Dean (Plan) of IIT Delhi Prof. Vivek Buwa said, “This advanced imaging facility will be helpful for many researchers in various subjects of IIT Delhi. This will also open several opportunities for research cooperation with NCR and medical institutions across India.”
