New Delhi. The BJP’s ally Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the central government has written a letter to the Election Commission by writing a letter to the Election Commission, amid the ongoing controversy over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters before the Bihar assembly elections. Chandrababu Naidu’s party has told the Election Commission that special intensive revision of the voter list should not be done 6 months before any important election. The TDP said that people are considering SIR as citizenship verification and because of this many people are afraid of this. Therefore, the Election Commission should clarify the scope of voter list special intensive revision.
This letter has been written to the Chief Election Commissioner on behalf of TDP Lok Sabha MP Lavu Shri Krishna Deviryu. In this, he has said that the purpose of SIR should be to improve the voter list and include new names in it, not citizenship verification. The entire data of new names in the voter list and whose names have been removed should be uploaded on the Election Commission website. The TDP MP told the Election Commissioner that there is still a long time in the assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, so the voter list special revision program should be started as soon as possible.
The Election Commission has also given some suggestions to the Election Commission for conducting fair and transparent elections. He said that a third party audit should be conducted every year under the supervision of the CAG so that the disturbances can be detected. The dead and people who have shifted from one place to another should use AI technology to remove their names from the voter list. During the voter list revision program, booth level agents must be included in it. Also, instead of putting ink on the voter’s finger at the time of voting, biometric verification has been suggested.
