Vidhansabha monsoon session 2025: During the monsoon session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly, there was a lot of uproar on the shortage of DAP fertilizer on 17 July today i.e. on Thursday. Congress MLA Umesh Patel raised the issue of heavy shortage of DAP fertilizer in the state during the Question Hour, which created an atmosphere of terrible tension in the session.
Agriculture Minister information about fertilizer
Giving information, Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam said that the state government has set a target of 3.10 lakh metric tonnes of DAP fertilizer, out of which about 1.72 lakh metric tonnes have been supplied till June. The minister also said that 60 percent of this fertilizer has been distributed to cooperative societies and 40 percent to private traders. Also, the distribution of Nano DAP has also been started in view of the lack of DAP.
Congress MLAs made a lot of ruckus
However, the opposition was not satisfied with the minister’s reply. After this, other MLAs including senior Congress leaders Bhupesh Baghel, Umesh Patel and Devendra Yadav accused the government of black marketing of DAP manure and started shouting slogans in the House. During that time the situation deteriorated so much that all the Congress MLAs entered the sanctum sanctorum and started creating a ruckus demanding the resignation from the Agriculture Minister.
Speaker suspended 23 Congress MLAs
Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh repeatedly tried to calm the opposition, but to no avail. After this, the speaker ordered all 30 Congress MLAs to be suspended and ordered to leave the House. But instead of going out, the suspended MLA sat on a dharna in the House and continued slogans against the government.
After this, the assembly proceedings were postponed till 12 noon. The speaker condemned the opposition’s behavior as ‘contrary to parliamentary dignity’. Let me tell you, this conflict between the government and the opposition regarding the supply of DAP fertilizer can be more sharp in the coming days. The aggressive attitude of the opposition regarding the problems of farmers is becoming a challenge for the government.
