US President Donald Trump did a private dinner with Qatar PM Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on Wednesday evening. Earlier, Trump met Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa of Bahrain at the Oval Office of the White House.
The purpose of these visitors was to progress in the direction of Gaza ceasefire, reduce regional tension and strengthen diplomatic relations with Gulf countries. Donald Trump on Wednesday stressed the diplomatic relations with the Gulf countries as a means of economic development, despite the low progress on regional crises like Gaza War.
Trump has a special attachment to the Gulf countries, where his family’s business relations are also widespread. In mid -May, Trump visited Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, the first foreign trip to his second term.
During the visit to Qatar, he praised the palaces and visited Al Udid Air Base (Middle East’s largest American military base). The base was targeted by Iran’s missiles when the US attacked Iran’s nuclear bases – just a few hours before the ceasefire.
Agreements of at least $ 1.2 trillion (about ₹ 100 lakh crore) were signed during the tour. These include:
Qatar Airways deal to buy 210 aircraft from Boeing
Buying drones and anti-drain technology from defense companies like Raytheon
Investment in US energy sector
US President Donald Trump has indicated that he wants to use a magnificent Boeing 747 aircraft offered by Qatar as its new Air Force One. Trump said he was troubled by the delay of new presidential aircraft by the Boeing Company. However, this proposal has raised questions related to many security and morality as the aircraft has received a gift from a foreign government (Qatar). Middle East Affairs expert Aeron David Miller (who has been an advisor in Democrats and Republican governments) said that the Gulf region (Gulf) Trump’s thinking is the perfect image of the Middle East, rich, stable and full of rulers that make the trump feel easy.
