More than 45 schools and three colleges in Delhi received bomb threats through email on Friday. After continuous threats, there has been panic among the students and their parents. This is the fourth day this week when schools in the country’s capital were targeted by bomb threats.
Meanwhile, an official reported that Delhi Police and other quick response officers are currently engaged in search and withdrawal operations. Police, bomb disposal squads and dog squads and fire departments along with the department had left for schools and colleges, as these institutions started getting threats through emails.
A senior police officer said that according to the latest information received from the officials, the three colleges who have received such threats are Indraprastha (IP) Women’s College, Hindu College and Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) in North Delhi.
Earlier, schools in many districts were threatened with bombing. In Dwarka, the administration of six schools – St. Thomas School, GD Goenka School, DIS Age School, Modern International School, Dwarka International School and La Petit Montessori – informed the police about getting threats. Subsequently, rescue operations were started in these schools.
According to the information shared by the police, one of the threatened emails wrote, “Hello. I am writing to tell you that I have placed many explosive equipment (trinitrotoline) in school classes. Explosives have been efficiently hidden in black plastic bags.”
However, nothing suspicious has been found in Dwarka schools yet, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said.
Similarly, in Rohini, MRG School in Sector 3, Delhi Public School, Sovereign Public School in Sector 24, Sovereign Public School and Heritage Public School, Delhi International Public School in Sector 9, Abhinav Public School in Sector 3 and Heritage School officials in Sector 3 and Heritage School officials, after contacting the police, started the process of vacating the school after the police claiming emails claiming the presence of explosive equipment in their premises.
There was an atmosphere of tension in Pitampura (Maxfort Junior School and Guru Nanak School) and West Vihar (Richmond School and Doon Public School) after receiving these emails.
According to a police officer, cyber detectives have started their work and are finding out the source of these dangers. Similar scenes were seen in schools in other parts of the national capital.
South Delhi -based Summerfield International School, Bharti Public School (Health Vihar), Hamdard Public School (Sangam Vihar), St. Xavier’s Senior Secondary School (Raj Niwas Marg), North Delhi Public School (Shalimar Bagh), New Delhi Public School (Vikaspuri), Meera Nursery School (Janakpuri), Prudence School (Janakpuri), Prudence School (Sadik Nagar), Delhi Public School (Delhi, Delhi Road), Metter Dei School (Tilak Lane) is also included in 45 schools that have been threatened by email.
According to the police, Delhi Jain Public School (Palam), Junior Delhi School, Delhi Public School (RK Puram, East of Kailash and Vasant Vihar), The British School (Chanakyapuri), Delhi City School (Bawana), Faith Academy (Prasad Nagar), Amity International School (Saket), Amity International School (Saket), Cambridge Foundation School (Rajouri Garden), Big Fede Hans Raj Rajraja Model School (Ashok Vihar) is also in the list of threatening schools.
Former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi targeted the BJP on the matter. He said, “Today more than 20 schools have received threats to blow up! Think what would have been going on on children, parents and teachers.”
He said in a post on X, “BJP controls all four engines of governance in Delhi, and yet our children are not able to provide any protection! It is shocking!”
On Thursday, several security agencies organized mock drills at 10 places to assess their preparations for any emergency.
