Prime Minister Narendra Modi will go on an important visit to two countries from 23 to 26 July 2025. They will first visit the United Kingdom (UK) and then Maldives. The purpose of this visit is to strengthen India’s business and diplomatic relations. In the UK, they will sign the Indo-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which will promote trade between the two countries. After this, he will be the chief guest at the 60th National Day celebrations in Maldives, where there will be an attempt to improve the stressful relations between India and Maldives.
UK Tour (23-24 July):
Modi will be in the UK on 23 and 24 July. During this time he will sign the Indo-UK FTA, which has been prepared after a three-year talks between the two countries. This agreement will reduce tax on 99% of India’s exports, making Indian goods cheaper in the UK. Also, British products such as whiskey and cars will be able to sell easily in India. The agreement aims to double bilateral trade by $ 120 billion by 2030. In addition, defense, technology and regional security will also be discussed. The journey will further strengthen the strategic partnership between India and the UK.
Maldives Yatra (25-26 July):
Modi will visit Maldives on 25 and 26 July, where he will be the chief guest at the National Day celebrations. This will be his first visit to Maldives, since President Mohammad Mujju has come to power. In Maldives, some leaders’ relations with India were spoiled due to “India Out” campaign and pro -China policies of Mujju. The purpose of this journey is to reduce these stresses and strengthen India’s ‘neighbor first’ policy. Mujju traveled to India in October 2024, which was considered a step towards improving the relationship.
With this visit, India will take its business and diplomatic relations to new heights. Marine cooperation and development projects will also be noted with the Maldives. The tour reflects India’s regional influence and global partnership.
