Hanuman ji is considered the ultimate devotee of Lord Rama. According to mythology, Hanuman ji painted his entire body with vermilion to prove the long life and devotion of his Lord Shri Rama. This is why Hanuman ji is often painted in red or saffron color. Despite this, his black sculptures are also installed in some parts of the country, with the deep faith of devotees and many unique beliefs.
This temple of Kale Hanuman ji located near Hawa Mahal in Jaipur holds its unique identity. This temple is famous as ‘Kale Hanuman Ji’. Devotees come and go every day, but especially on Tuesday, a huge crowd of devotees throngs here. The temple has a pre -facing black statue of Hanuman ji, which has been the center of faith of devotees for many years.
There are many temples across the country where the black idol of Hanuman ji is worshiped, but this temple of Jaipur has special significance. According to the legend, when Hanuman ji completed his education, he sought a special work from his Guru Suryadev as Guru Dakshina. Suryadev told him that his son Shani Dev does not obey him, so Hanuman ji will have to fulfill the responsibility of bringing him back. This will be Guru Dakshina.
Hanuman ji went to Shani Dev and prayed to him to go back to his father. But on seeing Hanuman ji, Shani Dev got angry and put his mischief, which made Hanuman ji’s color black. Nevertheless, Hanuman ji celebrated Shani Dev with his devotion and patience. Lord Shani was pleased with the devotion of Hanuman and he promised that if someone worships Hanuman ji on Saturday, then his evil eye will not have any effect.
There is also a unique belief of this temple that with the blessings of Hanuman ji, a miraculous eye-fiber (cord for the protection of the eye) is formed here. This eye-fiber is specially made for children so that their health is good. Due to this, people bring their children from all over the country and abroad here for the vision and blessings of Hanuman ji.
The priests of the temple regularly anoint the idol of Hanuman ji with oil and make up with sandalwood, which makes the atmosphere of the temple full of spiritual energy. This temple is not only the center of religious faith, but the minds of the devotees who come here also feel peace and security.
