Indian Army will get three Apache helicopters, likely to join Jodhpur on 22 July

The Indian Army is going to get three state-of-the-art Apache AH-64E helicopters to increase its war capacity. According to sources, these helicopters will reach Jodhpur by 21 or 22 July 2025 and can be formally inducted into the army on 22 July. These helicopters are the first batch of six helicopters purchased from the US under a $ 600 million deal in 2020. They will be first launched at the Handan Air Force Station, then posted in Jodhpur, which is strategically important near the Pakistan border.

The Apache helicopters are among the most advanced attacker helicopters in the world, which the American company makes Boeing. These are equipped with Helphire missiles, 30mm chain guns and rocket pods, which can also carry out accurate attacks in day and night and bad weather. They will be posted in Jodhpur at 451 Army Aviation Squadron, which was established in March 2024. This squadron will work for armored war and quick attacks on the Pakistan border under the Western Command.

The Indian Air Force is already operating 22 Apache helicopters under the 2015 deal, posted in Pathankot and Jorhat. But this is the first time the Indian Army will operate the Apache helicopter independently, which will increase the capacity of sharp coordination and attack with the ground forces. These helicopters have modern communication, navigation and sensor systems, which can track 128 goals in a minute.

However, their delivery was delayed. Previously delivery was to take place in May-June 2024, but it was postponed by July 2025 due to supply chain problems and global geopolitical changes. The remaining three helicopters are expected to be met by the end of this year. The move is part of the modernization of the army, including indigenous Prachanda and Rudra helicopters. The deployment of Apache will increase India’s defense and monitoring capacity on the Pakistan border.[],
