Bihar Voter List Controversy: On the second day of the monsoon session of Parliament, there was a lot of uproar. Opposition parties have accused the government of plotting dishonesty over the special intensive review (SIR) going on in Bihar. Many leaders including Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, MP Dimple Yadav and Ram Gopal Yadav surrounded the Modi government on this issue and expressed serious possibility of rigging the BJP in elections.
Several MPs, including Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, demonstrated at the Makar Gate of Parliament complex demanding immediate stop the SIR process.
Akhilesh’s charge – preparation for dishonesty in Bihar under the pretext of voter list
Akhilesh Yadav said about a special intensive review in Bihar, “The BJP makes a new strategy before every election. Now the list of 8 crore voters is being rebuilt in 1-1.5 months. It is directly playing with democracy.”
He said that “In the Kundarki by -election in Uttar Pradesh, the police themselves cast their votes. Get the CCTV footage checked. 18,000 names were removed from the voter list, which we complained to the Election Commission, but no action was taken.”
Dimple Yadav raised questions on the intention of the government
Dimple Yadav, MP from Mainpuri, said, “The intention of the government behind SIR seems wrong. Until the voice of the public is heard, democracy will remain only in the name.” He demanded that this review be completed with transparency and no rigging would be tolerated.
Ram Gopal Yadav said-arbitrary votes are being added
SP MP Ram Gopal Yadav said in the Rajya Sabha, “When a conspiracy to cut and connect votes is going on, what is the meaning of running the House. The process of SIR is a violation of the rights of the people.” Along with this, Ram Gopal Yadav said on the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, “This is very surprising. When there are so many attacks on democracy, resigning raises more questions.”
Let me tell you, these questions raised by the opposition in Parliament have created a deep political storm regarding the review process of the voter list going on in Bihar. Now it has to be seen what explanation the Election Commission and the Central Government gives on it.
