Jammu. Today, a new batch of 3,536 pilgrims left from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu for worship at the 3,880 meter high Amarnath cave temple in South Kashmir Himalayas. Giving information, the officials said, “A new batch of 3,536 pilgrims left for Sri Amarnath Yatra cave temple in Kashmir amidst tight security arrangements this morning. The security forces are with them to ensure the safe and smooth journey of pilgrims.
Of the total pilgrims, 2,286 have chosen the traditional Pahalgam route, while 1,250 have chosen the small but high sloping Baltal route. The group is traveling in a fleet of 132 vehicles, including both light and heavy motor vehicles. The 38-day annual journey began on 2 July from double routes of Nunwan-Pahalgam in Anantnag and Baltal in Ganderbal and will end on 9 August.
According to official data, more than three lakh pilgrims have been worshiped so far at the Amarnath Cave Temple, located at an altitude of 3,888 meters, which has made this year’s visit one of the most devotees made by the most devotees in recent times. The pilgrimage of the Amarnath Cave Temple in Jammu and Kashmir, the Amarnath Yatra, is traditionally organized during the month of Hindu Shravan (Sawan).
