Uttarakhand news: Relief and rescue teams are working on a war footing from 6 am to deal with the situation arising out of excess rainfall in various areas of district Rudraprayag. Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Shri Vinod Kumar Suman said that by 3:30 pm, 1600 passengers have been evacuated from Kedarnath Dham to safe places. There is no information about any kind of loss of life and animal lingering in the incident. He said that taking information about the entire incident, the Hon’ble Chief Minister has given instructions to conduct relief and rescue operations at a speedy pace and take full care of the safety of the passengers. At the same time, he has asked to provide all the necessary assistance to the villagers in disaster -hit areas immediately.
Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Shri Vinod Kumar Suman said that between 01:00 am and 04:00 pm last night, there was a lot of debris and water in the village Chameli, Rumi, Chamrara Tok and Vijayanagar area under Tehsil Rudraprayag due to huge amount of debris and water in the village Chameli, Rumi, Chamrara Tok and Vijayanagar area. Debris has entered about 8–10 buildings.
He said that as soon as the information was received at the state and district emergency operations centers, the relief and rescue teams were immediately informed to the disaster affected areas. In view of the seriousness of the incident, the teams of the Revenue Department, Public Works Department, Police Department and Health Department along with the Disaster Management Department started in relief and rescue work from 6:00 am. With the help of JCB and other resources in the affected areas, the work of removing debris is being done rapidly. Villagers, livestock and other affected people have been evacuated to safe places. Local administration is ensuring safe housing, food, medical and necessary services by setting up relief camps.
On the other hand, information about heavy stone and debris was received in an area of about 30 meters on the Kedarnath Yatra route, about 50 meters from Gaurikund at around 4:00 am. Immediately relief work was started by teams of district administration, NDRF, SDRF and other concerned departments. Passengers were safely evacuated by creating an alternative route. So far, about 1600 passengers have been safely evacuated from Kedarnath. The process to evacuate about 700 other passengers is going on. The work of opening closed routes is also on a war footing. If the weather remains favorable, all routes will be opened by evening.
The entire situation is constantly being monitored from the State Emergency Operations Center. The Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation took information about the progress of relief work themselves and directed all the concerned agencies that there should be no good in relief and rehabilitation works. Secretary Disaster Management said that in this odd situation, quick action of the state’s disaster management team, NDRF, SDRF, Revenue Department and District Administration is commendable. He has worked to ensure the safety of people with complete commitment and dedication.
Honorable Chief Minister is keeping an eye on the situation and relief and rescue operations are being monitored by his office. Additional resources are being arranged as per requirement. According to the information so far, there is no information about any kind of loss or animal loss in this disaster, which is a matter of relief. Nevertheless, intensive inspection by teams in all areas is going on and further detailed information will be shared. During this period, ACEO Administration Mr. Anand Swaroop, ACEO Implementation DIG Mr. Rajkumar Negi, JCEO Mo. Obaidullah Ansari, USDMA expert and nodal officers of various departments were present at the State Emergency Operations Center.
