In the Chauhaboard police station area of Jodhpur, a person was made a victim of cheating of about Rs 46 lakh by luring double-triple profits in the name of share trading. The police have arrested Vishal Chavda, the main accused in the case, from Gujarat, while the search for other accused Devraj, Manav Rajput, Raj Patel and Vikas continues.
Balotra resident Rakesh son Ramesh Kumar, who was currently living in A-68, Shriram Nagar, PF Office, police station CHB area, received a phone call on 18-19 April 2025. The caller used to call himself Devraj and his mobile number was 8980656959. Devraj asked Rakesh about the interest of investing in the stock market and claimed that the amount may be doubled soon after trading according to tips through brokerage companies.
After this, Rakesh started receiving calls from different numbers-8980656959, 9512058556, 9909030677, 8735075506, 9727196533 and 96246669979. The callers included Manav Rajput, Raj Patel, Vikas and Vishal Chavda. Everyone proposed to Rakesh to join his companies – Shivalik Brokerage Ltd and Anmol Shares Broking Pvt Ltd -.
First investment and increasing trust
Rakesh, with the consent of his brother Abhishek, transferred his savings account (HDFC Bank, Balotra branch, account number 50100685479447) from the Fino Bank Account (Account Number 20389537604, IFSC – Fino001001) on 21 April 2025 and then transferred Rs 50,000 on 22 April 2025.
On 26 April, the accused sent a “profit statement” of his investment to Rakesh and sent Rs 73,400 to the bank account. This payment strengthened Rakesh’s trust.
Loke of a large amount of money
The accused told Rakesh that he should open a “traditional account”, so that he would be able to trade the shares equal to double the amount with his original deposit and there will be no tax on it. Rakesh came to his words and deposited a total of Rs 46,40,000 in the same Fino Bank account between 21 April and 7 May 2025.
On May 3, the accused sent another profit statement and said that the account will be calculated after 15-20 days. But after May 7, when Rakesh asked about repeated payment, the accused first deferred, then stopped replying to calls and WhatsApp messages.
Complaint and investigation
Disappointed, Rakesh lodged an online complaint on 23 June 2025 at Cybercrime Police Station (complaint number 22706250022991). The police registered a case and started investigation.
A team was formed under the leadership of Chauhaboard Police Station Incharge Ishwar Chandra Pareek under the direction of Police Commissioner Om Prakash, Deputy Commissioner of Police Jodhpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police Jodhpur Jodhpur West Vineet Kumar Bansal, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nishant Bhardwaj and Assistant Commissioner of Police Ravindra Bothra. The investigation proceeded on the basis of human and technical information.
Arrest from Gujarat
The police team arrested the accused Chavda Vishal son Manoj Bhai, caste Hindus, aged 26 years, resident of 13-296 Pariksitlal Nagar, Gangnath Society, Baharampur, Thana Dani Limda, District Ahmedabad (Gujarat). He is being questioned and the police is raiding in search of the remaining accused.
Way-e-crime
The accused lured the traditional account to the victim by luring them to double the investment in the stock market, deposited the amount in their fake bank accounts, showed fake profits statements and raised confidence by returning some amount. After this, the money was withdrawn and disappeared after withdrawing cash.
