New Delhi. Petitions filed against special revision (SIR) of voters in Bihar will be heard again in the Supreme Court on August 12. In the last hearing, the Supreme Court had asked the Election Commission to give a list about the people removed from the draft voter list of Bihar and tell which reason was removed. The Supreme Court also said that this list should also be given to all political parties. On this, the Election Commission has given an affidavit in the Supreme Court. The Election Commission has said in the affidavit that it is not obliged to give a separate list of those removed from the draft voter list under the rules.

The Election Commission has also filed an additional affidavit in the Supreme Court. The Election Commission has said in this affidavit that the name of any voter will not be removed from the voter list of Bihar without giving a chance of full hearing. The Election Commission has also said in the affidavit that it has given the booth level list of names of those people whose revision forms have not been submitted. The Election Commission has told the Supreme Court that those who do not have the names in the draft voter list, they can fill the form to name it. The Election Commission has said that its BLO went to every house and collected revision forms. Along with this, publicity was also done through advertisements in 246 newspapers to inform the people of Bihar working in other states. The Election Commission has said that every possible step was taken that not a single valid voter should be left out.
Assembly elections are to be held in Bihar in October-November. Earlier, opposition parties including RJD and Congress are raising questions on the SIR on behalf of the Election Commission. Leaders of these parties have filed a petition against SIR in the Supreme Court. At the same time, an organization called Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has also petitioned. Opposition parties allege that the Election Commission is conducting SIR just before the Bihar assembly elections to benefit the BJP. At the same time, the Election Commission says that it has the right to know whether the voter is a citizen of India under Articles 324 and 326 of the Constitution. After the first phase of Bihar’s SIR, the names of 65.64 lakh people have been removed from the draft voter list.
