The Congress, criticizing the government for “forcibly passed” on the National Sports Government Bill, 2025, claimed that the bill would be “highly centralized” as a result of this bill.
Congress general secretary and communication in -charge Jairam Ramesh alleged that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would get the most preferred behavior and will not be subject to any law like Right to Information (RTI).
He said, “The National Sports Government Bill, 2025 was forcibly passed in the Lok Sabha tomorrow and today it will probably be passed in the same way in the Rajya Sabha.”
Digvijay Singh, chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee related to education, women, children, youth and sports, on Monday wrote a letter to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha requesting that the bill be sent to the committee for intensive investigation and extensive consultation.
Ramesh said, “This is the purpose of such committees but as it has been in the past, the Modi government completely ignored this request.”
He said, “This bill will result in extreme centralization of sports administration and obviously the BCCI will get the most privileges and will not be subject to the law of any country like RTI.”
The Lok Sabha on Monday passed the National Sports Government Bill, 2025 and the National Anti -Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025 and Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandavia said that the country’s dream of gaining distinction from the playground would come true after these Bills take the form of the law. He also said that these bills will play an important role in the creation of a transparent, accountable and world -class sports environment in the country.
