The body of a woman was recovered on the sixth day of the rescue and relief operations operated since the cloudburst in Chishoti village of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir, causing the number of dead to 64. The officers provided this information. Officials said that the rescuers recovered the dead body this morning amidst the intensified search operations after improvement in the weather.
With the help of investigative dogs, the lower part of another person’s body was recovered from the debris of a collapsed house, officials said that this part could be of the same person whose body was recovered on the tragedy day. Rescuers are searching in many places, especially with the help of heavy machines and investigative dogs like JCB at the most affected place near the anchor site. The number of people who died in the floods caused by a cloudburst on August 14 in the village Chishoti, which reached the vehicle on the route of Machail Mata temple, has increased to 64 after getting another body. Those who died include three Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and a special police officer. More than 100 people have been injured in this incident.
Officials said a total of 167 people have been rescued, while the list has been reported to be reduced to 39 after a renewed amendment on Monday. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Deputy Superintendent of Police Masuf Ahmed Mirza said that rescue and relief operations are going on on a war footing and a team is being sent downwards to investigate the area. He said, “The rescue operation started again with another dead body this morning. The effect of cloudburst is very large, so it is taking time. We have cleaned a large area in the upper part of the river and now we are sending a team down. ”
