Kamada Ekadashi Katha
According to legend, there was a city named Bhognipur. Where a king named Pundarik ruled. The kingdom of Pundarik was endowed with all kinds of opulence and splendor. Many nymphs, eunuchs, Gandharva etc. lived in this city. In this city, a nymph named Lalita also lived with her husband Lalit. Lalit and Lalita were a Gandharva couple. The love between Lalit and Lalita was so deep that both could not live without each other.
The king cursed
Once Apsara Lalita was dancing in the court of Raja Pundarik. At that time her husband was singing a beautiful song. While singing the song, his attention went towards his wife and he lost his attention in the same way, so the song did not look good. King Pundarik was very angry. King Pundarik said that ‘You were so absorbed in the love of your wife that your speech was spoiled.’ Saying this, the king cursed that Gandharva to become a demon.
Gandharva became a demon
Due to the curse of the king, Gandharva became a fine demon. His wife Lalita was very sad on this. To get her husband back, she went to the sage Bhringi and prayed to him to make her husband again Gandharva. On this, the sage advised Apsara to fast on Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month.
Apsara fasted Kamada Ekadashi
Apsara Lalita observed the fast of Kamada Ekadashi as a sage’s advice. By keeping this fast, her husband again got the Gandhar form. It is believed that all the wishes of anyone who fasts are fulfilled.
