The Ramayana composed by Maharishi Valmiki describes Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram. Most people know the original story of Ramayana. According to this story, the sons of King Dasaratha of Ayodhya were Shri Ram, Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna. Sri Ram was married, after which he was to be coroned, but Manthara disobeyed Queen Kekai and instigated Bharata to coronate and suggested to send Shri Ram to exile on the other side. King Dasharatha gave the exile to Shri Rama due to the promise given to Kaikeyi. Mother Sita and Laxman also went to exile with Shri Ram. After this, the story of Ravana’s defeat of Mother Sita and then the slaughter of Ravana by Shri Ram is the essence of Ramayana. Lord Brahma sent divine kheer after bringing Mother Sita to Ashoka Vatika
When Ravana kidnapped Mata Sita and brought her to Ashok Vatika, Mata Sita was hungry but she did not want to eat food earned from Ravana’s wickedness. Seeing this, Brahma ji sent a divine kheer to Indradev. Indra fed this divine kheer to all the demons with deceit, which all the demons slept in deep sleep and after that Mother Sita ate the kheer at the behest of Brahma ji, which calmed her hunger and thirst.
Ravana was cursed by Apsara named Rambha
According to the Ramayana, Ravana was intelligent as well as elusive, so he could go anywhere from his Maya. Once Ravana reached heaven. There he fell in love with a nymph named Rambha. He started wishing to have a love affair with Rambha, but Rambha understood Ravana’s intention and told him that I am the girlfriend of your elder brother Kubera’s son Nalakuber, so I became your daughter -in -law, but Ravana did not listen to Rambha and misbehaved with him. Enraged by this act of Ravana, Rambha cursed Ravana that in future if Ravana touch a woman without her consent, then her head will be cut into a hundred pieces. This is why Ravana never touched Mother Sita.
Gadhraj Jatayu’s father is Arun, the charioteer of Suryadev
Very few people know that Jatayu, the vulture who tried to save Mata Sita at the time of Sita’s disconnection, is Arun’s father. Arun is also the charioteer of Suryadev. After the death of Jatayu, Lord Rama cremated him on the banks of the Godavari river. There is also a famous temple of Giddharaj Jatayu in Dandakaranya in Chhattisgarh.
There are 33 gods and goddesses, not 33 crores
You must have often heard that people say that there are 33 crore deities in Hinduism, but the 14th verses of the 14th canto of the Ramayana mentions that there are a total of 33 deities which are generally called 33 crore deities. According to the Ramayana, twelve Aditya, eight Vasu, eleven Rudra and two Ashwini Kumar, these are 33 crore deities.
Shurpanakha cursed Ravana in his heart
Ravana’s sister Shurpanakha was in love with Vidyutjiva, the commander of Kalkeya. Shurpanakha wanted to marry the Vidyutjivh but Ravana killed the electrician after winning the kingdom of King Kalkeya. Ravana knew that his sister wanted to marry Vidyutjiv, yet he kept his victory paramount. When Shurpanakha came to know about this, he mourned his mind on the death of his lover and cursed his brother Ravana that “Just as you have destroyed my house before settling, similarly I will also cause destruction of your house, family and whole clan. Your destruction will be the reason for me.”
