On the Ashtami of Kartik Krishna Paksha, mothers will fast after offering prayers for the longevity and happiness and prosperity of their children. On this day, in the evening, worship should be done as per the rituals in front of the picture of Ahoi Mata. On this day the Ahoi form of Mother Parvati is worshipped. On this day, women observe Nirjal fast without consuming food or water for their children. It is believed that observing this fast brings long life to the children. They are protected from diseases. Childless women also observe Ahoi Ashtami fast in the hope of having a child. Vrat Katha is recited in the evening.
After applying kumkum to Ahoi Mata, offer flowers, light a ghee lamp and offer halwa-puri. In the evening, after listening to the story and seeing the stars, break the fast by offering Arghya to them. Guru Pushya Yoga is being formed on this day from 6.15 am to 7.40 am the next day. There will also be Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga and Amrit Siddhi Yoga throughout the day. Told that these three yogas are very auspicious. By worshiping these, one attains happiness, prosperity and glory.
