Jammu. On Saturday, the 11th batch of 6,639 pilgrims left from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu to visit the Holy Amarnath Cave Temple located in South Kashmir Himalayan region. Officials said that the batch left the Jammu base camp in a fleet of 275 vehicles, including light and heavy vehicles.
Officials said that pilgrims, including 1,462 women, 41 children and 181 sadhus and sadhvis, left for two separate convoys for Nunwan-Pahalgam in Anantnag and Baltal base camps in the district. He said that 4,302 pilgrims are going towards Pahalgam base camp in a convoy of 159 vehicles, while 2,337 pilgrims are traveling by Baltal route in 116 vehicles.
Significantly, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of pilgrims from here on July 2. The annual journey started from 03 July this year to visit Baba Barfini and it will run till 09 August. This journey will be of a total of 38 days.
