Amarnath Yatra 2025: Plan to increase facilities for better experience of devotees, officials reviewed

Jammu and Kashmir. In Jammu, authorities reviewed the plan to increase public facilities for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. On Tuesday, officials informed that the review focused on improving infrastructure and hygiene to ensure better experience for thousands of devotees who participated in the annual pilgrimage of the Amarnath Cave Temple located at an altitude of 3,880 meters in the Himalayan region of South Kashmir.

This year, the 38-day pilgrimage will begin on July 3- Traditional 48 km long Pahalgam route in Anantnag district of South Kashmir and 14 km long but relatively highly steep climbing Baltal route in Ganderbal district. The first batch from the Jammu base camp will leave on 2 July. An official spokesperson said that Jammu’s Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar presided over a meeting to review the development scheme of public amenities and renovation work on the journey route in Jammu division.

He said that on Monday, the implementation of the works fixed as per the approved action plan was discussed in the meeting of senior officials of various departments here. The spokesman said that the Divisional Commissioner directed the district administration and the heads of the concerned department to issue tenders for the work as soon as possible. He said that the district -wise sanctioned works include increase in basic facilities like electricity, water and toilets in various shelter centers from Kathua to Banihal in Ramban district, repair and renovation of existing facilities.

The senior official directed the electricity department to arrange electricity supply and adequate lights in shelter centers and travel camps in Lakhanpur, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu and Chandrakot Ramban of Kathua. The spokesperson said that the Health Department was asked to arrange necessary medicines at travel camps and shelter centers and deploy ambulances.

He informed that the Public Works Department was asked to see the work of setting up ‘Waterproof Hazar’ and temporary sheds at Bhagwati Nagar Yatra camp. The spokesman said that Deputy Commissioners of Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur and Ramban have been asked to monitor the progress of the work to ensure its quality and it can be completed on time.
