Srinagar. Prior to the Amarnath Yatra, several high -level security arrangements have been made, including the deployment of high -tech equipment on the routes leading to the holy cave temple in South Kashmir. Officials gave this information on Monday. For the first time this year, the face -identity system (FRS) has been installed at strategic places on both Pahalgam and Baltal routes of Amarnath Yatra. Through this technology, two people working for terrorist organizations were successful on June 19.
Photos of terrorists and suspicious overground workers active in the FRS system have been fed so that if a person inserted in the black list comes under the surveillance cameras, this system immediately alerts the security forces. “As soon as any person involved in the black list will come under the camera, the hooter will start ringing at the monitoring center operated by the security forces, so that steps can be taken in real time to eliminate the danger,” an official said. Additionally, the entire travel route passing through the Kashmir Valley has been declared “no fly zone” and authorities have banned the use of any UAV or drone in these areas from July 1 to August 10.
The annual pilgrimage of the holy cave temple, which is considered to be the abode of Lord Shiva in the South Kashmir Himalayas, will begin on July 3 and end on August 9 on Raksha Bandhan. This year, the period of the journey has been reduced to 38 days compared to the period of 52 days of the previous year. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has been visiting Aadhaar camps for the last one week and reviewing security and other arrangements for pilgrims.
Sinha told reporters at the Baltal base camp on Monday, “I held a meeting with senior officials (of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board) and security agencies. After the meeting I can say that the arrangements are much better this year. Coordination between security agencies is good and they are all alert.”
The entire route from Jammu to the holy cave will be monitored with CCTV and all the base camps have been kept in three-level security cordon. A large number of police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed for security on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. Security personnel have also been deployed at some sensitive places on the links connected to the highway.
