Jammu. A total of 180 companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) have been deployed this time to protect the annual Amarnath Yatra in Jammu, which are 30 more than the previous years. A senior police officer gave this information on Thursday. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bhim Sen of Jammu region, Bhim Sen, assured each devotee a safe pilgrimage, but appealed to him that if he is planning to travel from Jammu, he should travel in an official batch instead of traveling independently.
The 38 -day journey of the Holy Amarnath Cave Temple, 3,880 meters high in the South Kashmir Himalayas, will begin on July 3 from the two routes – the 48 km long traditional Pahalgam Marg in Anantnag district and the 14 km long but more steep -climbing Baltal route in the Ganderbal district.
The first batch of pilgrims will leave for Kashmir from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu, a day before the annual journey starts. The IGP said, “Police is cautious to ensure the safety of Har (Amarnath) pilgrims. (In Jammu region) five districts (Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur and Ramban) form a circuit through which the journey passes. CAPF personnel have reached here and a total of 180 companies have been deployed, which are 30 more than last year.
