Srinagar. The holy punishment of Lord Shiva was taken to the historic Shankaracharya Temple here on Thursday for special worship on the occasion of ‘Hariyali Amavasya’ (Shravan Amavasya) in accordance with the centuries-old tradition. Under the leadership of Mahant Dipendra Giri, the stick Mubarak was taken to the temple on the Gopadri hills for worship under the annual Amarnath Yatra. Giri, the patron of ‘stick Mubarak’, said that ‘stick Mubarak’ was brought to the temple from his residence in Dasnami Akhara near Lal Chowk, where the worship was done.
He said that the sound of the conch and Vedic chanting was worshiped. Giri said that the sadhus who came with ‘stick Mubarak’ also took part in the puja and a collective prayer was also done for the peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir. He informed that on Friday, ‘stick Mubarak’ will also be taken to the ‘Sharika-Bhavani’ temple located in Hari Parvat here. He informed that rituals of stick installation will be performed at Shri Amreshwar Temple Dasnami Akhara here on Sunday, after which a stick will be worshiped in the arena on the occasion of Nagpanchami on Tuesday.
