Srinagar. The final phase of the Amarnath Yatra started on Monday. Mahant Deepender Giri sent the holy stick of Lord Shiva ‘stick Mubarak’ to the Dashanami Akhara Temple to visit the cave temple located in South Kashmir Himalayas. Mahant Giri, the patron of the stick Mubarak, took out a holy stick journey from the Dasnami Akhara Temple at Buddhashah Chowk here in the morning amidst tight security with several sadhus.
He said, “The holy stick journey will reach Pahalgam tonight and stay there two nights. After this, Chandanwadi will be rested on August 6, Sheshnag on August 7 and Panjtarni on August 8. After this, the holy cave will reach on August 9, which will conclude according to the scriptures.
Shri Amarnath Shrine Board ended the journey that continued throughout the month on Saturday only a week before the scheduled time. The board said that there is a need to repair the damaged routes leading to the holy cave due to heavy rains.
This year more than 4.13 lakh pilgrims performed the Amarnath Yatra. Giri expressed satisfaction over the large number of pilgrims coming this year, but urged the authorities to take steps to ensure that the pilgrims could travel to Shravan Purnima, which is on the day of Raksha Bandhan every year.
