Amroha: Donate lamps today, will remember ancestors...More than 20 lakh devotees reached the fair

Gajraula, Amrit Vichar: On the eve of Kartik Purnima, devotees will donate lamps in the memory of their ancestors at the Ganga ghats in the Tigri Ganga fair on Thursday. They will wish for peace of soul of their ancestors. You will also earn the benefits of virtue by taking a bath in the Ganges.

According to pundits, there is a tradition of donating lamps on the eve of the main bath on Kartik Purnima. There will be a lamp donation at sunset on Thursday evening. Devotees will reach Gangaghat and offer prayers to their ancestors. People take Judi in the morning before sunrise and install it under the Peepal tree to offer tarpan to the ancestors. After this, take plain water in a pot and add Ganga water, milk powder, barley and black sesame seeds to it. Then offer water on the Judi of Kusha 108 times and chant the mantra Om Pitri Devtaayai Namah. All preparations for this have been completed.

On the other hand, more than 20 lakh devotees have reached the fair. The main Ganga bath of Kartik Purnima will take place in the early hours of Friday. For this, people reached Tigridham on Thursday also. It was told that after taking bath at the Ganga ghat at sunset, offerings will be made to the ancestors by lighting a lamp in the Ganges. Pandit Gangasaran Sharma told that it is believed that Lord Shri Krishna had first donated lamps on Chaturdashi in the presence of Pandavas for the peace of the souls of thousands of soldiers and countless warriors who lost their lives in the Mahabharata war. This tradition has been going on since then.

Since then, people offer tarpan to their ancestors on Chaturdashi one day from the main bath during the historical fair held in Tigri Dham on Kartik Purnima. This lamp is donated only by those people whose relatives have left them within a year and gone to the shelter of God the Supreme. He told that after taking bath in Ganga, donate a lamp at sunset. Even after this, take a bath in the Ganga. Also donate food and Dakshina. Dead souls get peace by donating lamps in Ganga during Kartik fair.
