Almost every character in the Ramayana was an incarnation of someone or the other and he was born to support Lord Rama and fulfill the special objectives. Shatrughna was the youngest brother of Lord Rama. They do not get much mention in the Ramayana. Perhaps this is why no one knows much about his wife. Shatrughan’s wife was Shrutkirti, who is considered an incarnation of a part of Mata Lakshmi. It is described in the Ramayana and other texts that along with the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, different forms of his wife Goddess Lakshmi also descended on the earth. Shrutkirti is considered to be the form of tolerance, peace and ideal wife religion. Shrutkirti was the daughter of Kushdhwaj, brother of King Janak. He is considered an ideal form of learning, humility and loyalty. The main objective of this incarnation of Shrutkirti was to assist Shatrughna in religious and family responsibilities and convey the message of purity and peace. His character in the Ramayana represents the ideal wife and ideal household life.
Laxman’s wife Urmila is also considered an incarnation of an excerpt from Goddess Lakshmi. Urmila is considered as a symbol of Goddess Lakshmi’s “sacrifice and tolerance”. He performed his duties by staying in Ayodhya in the absence of Rama and Laxman for 14 years. He slept these 14 years so that Lakshmana wakes up and watch his dear brother Ram and sister -in -law Sita during exile. It is said that Urmila inspired Lakshmana to serve Lord Rama. He gave priority to duty and religion by renouncing his personal pleasures.
Bharata’s wife Mandvi is also considered an incarnation of an excerpt from Goddess Lakshmi. Mandvi is considered as a symbol of the “patience and balance” of Goddess Lakshmi. His life is an example of dedication and psychosis, which helped in maintaining family and social balance. Mandvi infusing patience and power in Bharata’s difficult life. Bharata ruled Ayodhya as a symbol of Ram’s Charanpaduka and Mandvi supported him at every step.
