According to religious texts, it is very auspicious to wake up and take bath before sunrise in the month of Kartik. Especially the importance of bathing in Ganga, Yamuna or any other holy river is very high. But, if the river cannot be reached, then one should take bath at home and meditate on Lord Vishnu. Taking bath in the month of Kartik brings happiness, prosperity, health and mental peace in life. It is said in the scriptures that the sins of previous births are eradicated by taking Kartik bath. One gets infinite virtue. Religious rituals, bathing, charity and fasting performed in this month infuse spiritual energy into a person’s life.
Kartik month has special significance in Hindu religion. This month is starting from Friday 18th October. During this period, bathing, charity, fasting and worship have special significance. Pandit Suryamani Pandey told that Kartik month is considered a special time for worshiping Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. Especially on Kartik Purnima, bathing in Ganga has great importance. According to the scriptures, taking bath in this month destroys a person’s sins and gives him salvation.
