The festival of Bhai Dooj is celebrated on the second day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Kartik. Astrologer SS Nagpal of Swastik Astrology Center told that the second date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month is starting from 8:21 pm on Saturday. It will end at 10:05 pm on Sunday night. Bhai Dooj will be celebrated on Sunday based on Udaya Tithi. Sisters apply tilak on the forehead of their brothers and pray for their happiness, prosperity and prosperity. On Bhai Dooj, one should take bath remembering Yamuna river or Yamuna. In the afternoon, after getting Tilak done by your sister, you should give her a gift.
Bhaiya Dooj rules
At the time of Tilak, brother’s face should be towards North or North-West and sister’s face should be towards North-East or East. Whereas chalk for worship should be made in the north-east. A brother should eat at his sister’s house. On the day of Bhaiya Dooj, something must be given to the sister as a gift. Brother, Tilak should not be done during Rahukaal. Never apply Tilak to your brother on the day of Bhaiya Dooj after sunset, doing so is not considered auspicious.
Why do we celebrate Bhai Dooj?
According to mythology, the importance of these days is linked to a legend. Lord Yamraj asked for a boon from his sister Yamuna to get the clean holy water of Yamuna river. Troubled by her brother’s worries, Yamuna gave special water to brother Yamraj as a boon. As a result of which Yamraj got freedom from anger. They become free from sorrow and distress. That is why Bhai Dooj is also called “Yam Dwitiya”, by the grace and blessings of Yamraj, on this day brothers get a happy life and they are free from anger, sorrow and distress.
