Usually, we don’t care much about anger or hatred, so they come naturally. But if we become aware of these emotions, our reluctant attitude towards anger and hatred will be enough to keep them away from us.
The destructive effects of hatred are clear and immediately visible. For example, when an extremely intense feeling of hatred arises within you, at that very moment, it completely overpowers you and disturbs your mental peace; Your intelligence stops working. Strong emotions of anger and hatred completely wipe out the best part of your brain, the ability to differentiate between right and wrong and the short-term and long-term effects of your actions. The ability to take decisions becomes completely inactive. You almost go crazy. This anger and hatred put you in a state of dilemma, which further increases your problems and troubles.
Even at the physical level, hatred causes very nasty, unattractive physical changes in a person. When strong emotions of anger and hatred are aroused, no matter how good a person tries to look, his face appears ugly and distorted. Hatred is compared to an enemy. This inner enemy does nothing but cause harm. This is our staunch enemy, our biggest enemy. It destroys us both in the immediate and long term.
This is very different from the normal enemy. Although a common enemy, whom we think of as our enemy, does things that harm us, he has at least some other things to do; That person eats, sleeps. Therefore he has other work to do and cannot work to harm us 24 hours a day. But hatred has no other purpose, no other purpose than to destroy us. Understanding this, we should firmly resolve that we will not give our enemy, hatred, an opportunity to arise within us.
Some people harbor feelings of anger and hatred due to wrongs done to them in the past and these feelings remain bottled up inside them. But instead of keeping them locked inside us, we should let them out. However, anger and hatred are generally emotions that can grow if you let them go unchecked. Even if you make a habit of expressing these emotions when you wake up, they will increase instead of decreasing. The more careful and actively you try to reduce their intensity, the better off you will be. Our effort should be to control our anger and not to be controlled by it. Once anger is controlled, life becomes easy and simple.
