Chanakya Niti: Human life revolves around education, wealth, religion and home. A person spends his entire life in treasuring these things. Many times, despite trying hard, everything slips out of his hands. Acharya Chanakya has explained through a shloka in his Niti Shastra that how a person can protect or save religion, education and home. Know about them-
Vitchen Rakshyate Dharma Vidya Yogen Rakshyate. Mriduna Rakshyate Bhoopah Satstriya Rakshyate Griham.
According to Acharya Chanakya, the meaning of the shloka is- Dharma is protected by wealth. Vidya can be protected by Yoga. A king can be saved by softness or sweetness and Sati women protect the home.
Chanakya says that money is needed to protect religion. Dharma and Karma can also be performed only through money. Helping others, giving donations or building temples etc. are considered Dharma. To keep the knowledge stable, it needs to be practised.
The king is protected because of his sweet behaviour. If the ruler becomes cruel, the subjects can revolt. Therefore, the king saves the kingdom from destruction by his sweet nature. Chanakya says that when women are mindful of their duties, the prestige of their family is paramount in their minds, till then the house is saved, i.e. the family is not destroyed.
Another verse mentioned in Niti Shastra- Sukhasya Moolam Dharma:. Dharmasya Moolmarth:.
Chanakya says that the root of happiness is Dharma. Happiness is attained through Dharma. Wealth can be obtained through Dharma. Everything can be obtained through Dharma. Dharma is everything in this world, hence it is necessary to protect Dharma.
