You are the one who offers Tiwai on Ghatwa. Standing in the middle of the water, take darshan, take shelter… The entire ghat was resonating with these songs on the great festival of sun worship, Chhath. After taking bath and Kharna, on Thursday evening, the women who kept fast for 36 hours without water, reached the ghat and worshiped Chhath Maiya, entered waist-deep water and offered Arghya to the setting sun and prayed for the well-being of their family.
Actually, the great festival celebrated mainly in Purvanchal and Bihar for the long life of sons, started on Tuesday. After taking bath and eating Kharna, on this great festival from Thursday afternoon onwards, women and their husbands reached the ghat with drums and drums, carrying dauri dala filled with worship material along with fruits and prasad on their heads. Sangam Nose, Baluaghat was packed with fasting women and their families. The women made a paste of sugarcane on the ghat and worshiped Chhathi Maiya. After worshiping, he got into waist-deep water and offered Arghya to Lord Aditya (Sun) in the evening as the sun set. State Cabinet Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi and his wife Abhilasha Gupta also performed Chhath puja, reaching Arel Ghat in Naini. Minister Nandi also raised the issue of Chhath Maiya on his head and wished him well.
Thekua and rice laddus were offered
It is said that worshiping and worshiping Lord Surya on Chhath leads to the attainment of a child, protection of the child’s life and happiness and prosperity. This Chhath Puja is celebrated on the Shashti Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. On this day, preparations for Arghya start from morning. Thekua and rice laddus are made as prasad during the puja. For Chhath Puja, all types of fruits and flowers are decorated in a basket made of bamboo. Coconut and five types of fruits are placed in a soup and one faces the Sun God and circumambulate five times after offering Arghya to the setting Sun. While offering Arghya, milk and water are also offered to the Sun God.
Strict security arrangements at the ghat
Strict security arrangements have been made by Prayagraj Commissionerate regarding Chhath festival. Heavy police force and police personnel in plain clothes were deployed in Sangam and Baluaghat Baradari. Voluntary organizations also provided special support to the police on this festival. There was a ban on setting off fireworks on the banks of the ghat during the festival. Arrangements for fireworks were made in the ground some distance away from the ghat. Keeping in view the congestion and traffic, arrangements for barricading and parking have also been made at main intersections. So that traffic is not affected due to crowding
