Kanpur, Amrit Vichar. On Diwali, lamps were seen shining in the houses, while the sky became colorful due to fireworks. The streets were also illuminated with colorful fringes. Ganesh-Lakshmi were worshiped as per rituals in homes and establishments.
People along with the family worshiped and prayed for happiness and prosperity and took blessings of the elders. They also congratulated each other on Diwali. The sequence of fireworks continued the whole night. As soon as the firecrackers burst, the children jumped and clapped.
The festival of Deepotsav was celebrated with great pomp on Thursday. People purchased puja material, flowers and garlands and sweets throughout the day. In the evening, after wearing new clothes, prepared the puja platform with the family members.
After enshrining Ganesh-Lakshmi, worshiped them as per the rituals at an auspicious time and prayed for happiness and prosperity. Light ghee and oil lamps in the house.
After taking blessings of elders, wished each other Happy Diwali. After this, the process of fireworks started with the children. The sky appeared colorful due to the fireworks and this continued throughout the night. There was huge applause after the children released the Peacock, Lemon Tree and Elephant crackers.

After worshiping Ganesh-Lakshmi, people also offered food as per the belief. In which sugarcane, Kaitha, tamarind, amla, amarus, custard apple were also offered along with sweets.

On Thursday, the process of wishing Diwali continued till late night. People sent messages to their friends, relatives and well-wishers throughout the day. People also responded to the messages as congratulations.
